BAM luggage £110m refurb of iconic Covent Backyard tower


Designed by Richard Seifert & Companions, Area Home was accomplished in 1968 and is well-known for its round brutalist concrete cruciform façade.

The enduring constructing first occupied by the Civil Aviation Authority will now be introduced again to life as a wise constructing designed to BREEAM Excellent. Demolition specialist Erith is finishing up the enabling works.

Squire and Companions has led the redesign of the linked buildings which can embody building of two new flooring on prime of the present 15 storey tower.

There will even be a prime flooring extension to the interconnected eight-storey block and reconfiguration of the interior cores and basement ranges.

The mission will extensively refurbish each buildings to create 255,000 sq ft of Grade A workplace area.

Enabling works are underway and important building work is scheduled to start in April 2022, with a deliberate completion for autumn 2023.
